Lynona’s Weekly #2

Welcome Back! This is a cool way for me to share the random things I find myself researching while I should be asleep! Who needs a regular sleep schedule? Probably me but I like learning new things at 3 in the crisp parts of the morning so here we are.

I’m not an expert in any of these things, do your research or talk to a medical professional before you decide to try these things because some teas and herbal products can interact with prescription drugs (See: St. John’s Wort).

Please like, comment, subscribe, you know, all those things everybody would like for you to do on these internet streets.

Herb / Tea of the Week:

Turmeric latte aka Golden Milk aka Golden Latte

It truly has many names, but just as many purposes and uses.

See my post about it here!

Plant-based food I’ve been obsessed with:

Essential Oil of the Week:

Frankincense essential oil

I can’t describe the scent, I just know that frankincense is an enjoyable scent. It’s relaxing without making me sleepy and it helps bring my crown chakra into balance. It has physical benefits with scarring, helps with colds as a vapor, and can assist in balancing the energetic body. I’m excited to do more research and use it in more ways than only in my diffuser.

Sound(s) of the Week:

Saturn by NAO; specifically “Drive and Disconnect”

The entire album is amazing and so is her previous album, For All We Know.

A New Thing I Learned:

Being consistent and disciplined is essential to my growth and health. Throughout 2017 and 2018, I rewired my brain and stomach to eat more plant-based foods and less processed, sugary, oily, and salty foods (except for stress eating but I’m working on that). Now when I’m eating things that don’t fall into the parameters I’ve set for myself, my stomach will say “nope, that’s enough” and the next bite will make me nauseous. Or I’ll get nauseous before eating things like pizza. Ever since that pizza fiasco in Mount Dora, I haven’t eaten a full slice since.

The same applies to my yoga practice. I would go through waves of practicing every day and then stopping for months, having an inconsistent work schedule didn’t help. Now that I’ll rarely be called in before 10:30 AM, I can have a standard morning routine that now consists of making my bed, yoga, meditation, a tarot pull and drinking water. After doing all of this, I can proceed forward with my day. All of this can take between 30 minutes to one hour. It does a couple of things:

  1. It prevents me from crawling back into my bed for unnecessary sleep.
  2. It fully wakes my mind up.
  3. I’m much calmer, less frazzled, and can adequately prepare to be around the human race before even leaving the room.

This morning I woke up around 8 and didn’t use my voice until about 9:45. Bliss. A permanent mood. Being able to fully wake up on my own terms is incredible.

A Photo I Captured This Week:

I’m not sure what prompted me to take this picture at the intersection of Sixth Street and Nova Road. There was a very strong “do this now” feeling and I’ve been learning to trust those feelings the first time. Something really cool usually happens as a result of my trust.

A Reminder To Help Reprogram Our Brains:

Money is in abundance. It flows freely and easily for those open to receiving.

Thank you being here and reading my writing. I hope you enjoyed this assimilation of the things that occupied my brain this week!
